Occupational Health and Safety Policy

It is the policy of Grant Fit Out to comply with the current legislation and to provide, as far as reasonably practicable, a safe working environment, safe system of work and safe equipment for all persons engaged in or affected by our activities and to provide such information, training and supervision, needed for this purpose. The health and wellbeing of employees is a core value of Grant Fit Out, and the provision of occupational health is a crucial aspect of the company policy.

The company intends to demonstrate a keen interest in occupational health & safety for everyone affected by the company’s activities. We encourage positive participation and involvement to help promote high safety standards. To achieve a healthy and safe workplace, all employees must understand that they have the responsibility to cooperate with their supervisors and managers, and furthermore, they must take reasonable care of themselves and others who may be affected by their acts or omissions. The main policy objectives are:

  • Comply with all safety legislation, construction regulations and codes of practice related to our activities.
  • Promote and underpin the current culture of health, safety and welfare within the company, where high standards are the norm.
  • Identify, assess and manage all risks associated with our activities. This will be achieved by implementing systematic, site-specific written risk assessments for all activities and setting objectives for hazard reduction or elimination where possible.
  • Provide adequate instruction, information and training to all persons carrying out work on our behalf to enable them to understand their responsibilities and be “competent” in their work.
  • Continually improve and adapt activities within the company to develop safer work practices.
  • Consult with employees on health, safety and welfare matters and encourage participation on health & safety.
  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of the occupational health & safety management system.
  • Ensure that health risks arising from work-related activities are identified to enable the implementation of the necessary control measures and, where appropriate carry out occupational health interventions and health surveillance.
  • Provide all managers and staff with health education training to ensure they know the nature, causes, effects and appropriate management of ill health in the workplace.
  • Encourage a culture where managers take an active interest in the health and wellbeing of employees.
  • Ensure that a Mental Health First Aider is available in the company, should employees require their services.

The company safety policy sets out the allocation of duties for safety matters and particular arrangements to implement the policy. Internal audits and review of the Occupational Health & Safety Management System shall ensure that the system remains effective and meets the ISO 45001 standards requirements of the Integrated Management System throughout Grant Fit Out.

This company safety policy will be updated with regular reviews by senior management, particularly as the business changes in nature and size. To ensure this, the policy and how it is communicated and operated will be reviewed annually, paying particular attention to all changes and amendments to current health and safety legislation.
